Product description

Emprum's UltiMate GPS accessory is one of a kind.

It is the smallest, lightest and most portable GPS accessory on the market that is specifically designed for the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad, but that will also work on your laptop or desktop computer.

Be it for use in your car, on your bike, on your boat or in your plane, for geocaching or hiking, golfing, cycling, running, or any other outdoor activity you can think of, this accessory does it all.

Our UltiMate GPSaccessory has been certified to meet Apple performance standards and has been tested with all models of the iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad currently on the market.

The UltiMate GPS accessory comes with the free UltiMate GPS App, available on the App Store, giving you full control of your accessory.

Also included with the UltiMate GPS accessory is one (1) USB cable for UltiMate GPS (4ft). This cable was custom designed by Emprum for use with the UltiMate GPS accessory. Additional USB cables, e.g. for use at home, in your car, or on your boat, can be ordered here.

  The UltiMate GPS Quick Start Guide is a short leaflet that will provide you with a set of quick operating instructions for getting started with your new UltiMate GPS accessory. It is recommended that you read at least the Quick Start Guide before using the accessory.

  The UltiMate GPS User Guide is a detailed booklet which contains vital information about the functionality, various features and long-term maintenance of your new UltiMate GPS accessory.
  


• UltiMate GPS App User Guide
  The UltiMate GPS App User Guide is a detailed booklet which contains information about the functionality and various features of Emprum's UltiMate GPS App which is available from the AppStore.

Product drivers

Please refer to the UltiMate GPS Quick Start Guide for getting started with your Mac/Windows/Linux computer.

• Mac and Linux computers do not require a driver. The UltiMate GPS accessory will be directly recognized by your computer and show up in your /dev directory as a USB serial port.
  
  
• Windows computers require the installation of the UltiMate GPS UM3993 driver.

  Unzip the downloaded file and follow the following steps to install the Windows driver:

  1. After you have connected your UltiMate GPS accessory to your computer with the included USB cable, wait for about 5-10secs.
  2. After the Windows Hardware Wizard opens, select the Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) option and click Next.
  3. Choose the Don't search. I will choose the driver to install option and click Next.
  4. Click on Have Disk and point the Wizard to the unzipped Emprum_UM3993-A.inf file. Click Open and then click OK.
  5. Click Next to install the driver.
  6. A message will appear that the UM3993 UltiMate GPS driver has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows. This message can be ignored (the driver uses the Windows usbser.sys driver that is standard included with Windows and does not install any new drivers). Click on Continue Anyway and wait for the installation to finish. Click Finish.
  7. A reboot of your computer maybe required after the driver installation finishes.
  8. To check the installation, open up the Device Manager and expand the Ports (COM & LPT) line.
  9. Check that there is a line present that says UM3993 UltiMate GPS (COMxx) where xx is a number that the operating system has assigned to the UltiMate GPS accessory.
  10. The COM port settings can be changed under the Properties tab of the UM3993 UltiMate GPS (COMxx) line item.
  11. Click on the Port Settings tab and change the baudrate Bits per second to 57600.
  12. You can optionally change the COM port number by clicking on Advanced and selecting the desired COM Port Number. Reboot your computer.
